BFilter is a filtering web proxy. It was originally intended for removing banner ads only, but since then its capabilities have been greatly extended. Unlike most of the similar tools, it doesn't rely on blacklists (although it does support them). The problem with blacklists is that advertisers are always one step ahead. You see an ad slip through, you update your blacklist, and in case it didn't help, you add a new entry yourself. Those of you who torrent will have come across sites such as torrentz.com (which is the site this addon is hardcoded to work with for the moment) which index torrents by hash, and link to other sites. Unfortunately, this doesn't always mean you can get the torrent, as sometimes the torrent in question has been removed from other sites, or no other sites are listed. Luckily, sites such as torrentz.com use the torrent hash as part of the URL. Using this, we can create a magnet link, and get firefox to pass this off to its default application, which should be your primary torrent client. This will in turn use uTP or some similar protocol to retrieve the torrent file from DHT or the trackers you specify in the options (it comes with two as default), and then let you use the newly acquired torrent to download whatever you wanted to begin with. What is Port Triggering Initiator? When you use port triggering on your router a connection attempt must be made from your computer to an address on the trigger port. When you router detects the connection attempt your router then turns on the ports, thus you have port triggering, a on/off switch for port forwarding. Well the problem comes if you are using port trigging for a program that doesn't make a connection attempt, such as say a ftp server or hosting a game. If a connection is never detected the router never enables the ports. Well that's what Port Triggering Initiator is designed for. You enter the triggering port to make a connection on and give it a address outside your network. Any address will do even if the connection fails its the attempt that triggers the port

When you access the Internet with your web browser, a lot of things happen that are hidden to you. The browser and the website exchange "headers" that define the behaviour of the browser's cache system, create or use cookies, tell the website who you are and where you came from, and so on. Moreover, the page's html code contains hidden tags or javascript programs that control the browser's behaviour, such as "mouse-over" animation, page layering, URL masking or pop-up messages. And last but not least, the page often contains ads and banners that pollute the screen and slow down your web experience. Proximodo acts as a mediator between the browser and the website. It "sees" everything that is going on and, according to your choices, modifies headers and html page content on-the-fly to make things right. You don't want pop-ups and banners? Just activate the corresponding filters and they will disappear. You want cookies to be deleted when you close your browser? Proximodo will do it for you. You want a fast navigation in the pages you already visited? Page caching will be forced. Basically, Proximodo is a clone of a great piece of software called The Proxomitron, developed by Scott R. Lemmon. Now that for sad reasons Proxomitron is unmaintained, I started this project to carry on the idea. Though a few Proxomitron features are still missing in Proximodo (mainly SSL support) the essential is already there: 100% of Proxomitron filters will run under Proximodo (plus there is a menu to import your custom Proxomitron filters). Proximodo currently comes with default Proxomitron filters, which can do quite a lot of different things. But you can write your own filters, using a powerful syntax that, despite its seeming complexity, is quite easy to use and master.
