Google AJAX Feed API

Post by bob » 04/22/07, 3:55 pm

With the AJAX Feed API, you can download any public Atom or RSS feed using only JavaScript, so you can easily mash up feeds with your content and other APIs like the Google Maps API.

To get started, check out the documentation and example code.

Great--but with client side feed calling, slow? What do you think if a user called 50 feeds? Keep in mind, it's google caching the feeds...

You need a auth key to use it.
I looked at the examples, seems small signal in scope.

Thinking about this last night:

Does not address latency

Does not address redundancy

Does not address the mess that most RSS files are.
e.g. Ads, bad syntax, improper use of characters etal.

You sure?--all files will be uniformly formatted (reformatted by Google, I believe). Speed is my question, on a client side app

As for speed it is a multi factoral issue.
Bandwidth, server load, the amount of times you can
hit the google API key. There is a limit to API use.

BTW I have had a key to this for a long time. You might say I work in the same building - sort of. 8)

Anyway as I was saying they make the format uniform but
NOT the information a simple return from Engadget provides a glimpse...

The first item was ignored as for the rest of the titles:

Six years of Segway: the profound effect on the human race
World's "only" PowerFest '94 SNES cartridge up for auction
Nokia N75 finally launches on AT&T
Negroponte suggests the OLPC can support Windows, may hit US schools

Notice AT&T the & is still rendered as &

Great, just what we need is more drive by data.
Fun to play with at the office but its a toy.
Time for the commute its a drive to Ann Arbor.

BTW the first item was posted over an hour and a half ago. When is it going to be about the quality?
