If this is Paul Otlet we are talking about the man was a genius. Everyone ties him to the mention of the web that predates anything else but that was only a small part. I sit and pull my hair out because now all we seem to have in the main stream web is belief in a fucking piece of hardware and some ancillary ones and zeros. To be ghetto: Information is the play bitch.

Or what I wrote in a recent paper
This is SOD's first law of information.

A computer program is mearly an expression of the organization and work of information.

Oh what the hell there was also this:
A computer program should never be any bigger that the thought it expresses.

Did not see the post before THX, Bob. The one thing Otlet was interested in was the fidelity of the data preserved.

very funny :D The he collected data was very articulate.
One thing the web lacks is fidelity. It's like we have the best stereo in the world and we listen to the same Alvin and the Chipmunks 45 over and over. Hopefully the "web3.0" will be about the quality and not the quanity
of data produced.

A multi-billion dollar platform for info and all we can think to do is create and use things like Twitter? Clearly we need to rethink, and fast.

Everyone cares John, question is what do they care about.
What slays me are all the "web designers" out there
creating a standard "they can live with". Instead of considering the web as a whole they are very adapt at creating a far sighted colloquialism. They do it in the name of progress (html5) when all they really want to do is cerate another format that reflects a place in time instead of making information timeless.
