I have shared an IBM PC with my sister from 1990 up to nov of this year and from it I accessed various customization sites (lotosfoskins.com, litestep.net, and others), but now my father bougth me an Apple iBook (a really coool and fast computer) and I can't use my member ID in those sites (I have registered from the Wintel of my sister). this is a problem with my system (hardware/software) or with those sites?

You mean they won't take your password and user name?

Write the admins of any of the sites you are having trouble with, they'll fix you up.
This is not a hardware or software related issue. Your old box probably had cookies stored with your access info. You'll just have to set it up site by site.

haha! I'm sorry... that was funny. Yes, I think he's right about the cookies- You really havent cleared them out in almost 12 years?! Thats good in terms of autonomy on websites, but you can be tracked, poked, prodded, etc. by them as well for your personal info. What I've done, which is also a performance enhancer, is to create a ramdrive (64MB on my win2k machine here) and use that for my browser cache. Cant say this about NS, but IE seems to store a lot of cookies in there (which get erased on reboot), but many of the "useful" ones seem to stay in their normal place (even though i told it not to but thats M$ software for you )

I don't think it's cookies---he says the sites are net letting him log in. That he can't use his member ID (and presumably password?) If they'd let him do this, new cookies could all be set. Now if he doesn't have the passwords.... Well, most sites let you get a new one if you send them your username--but they'll send it to the email address you've registered under...

Your right Bob. there is no connection between machine and site in this instance.
