Got my hammer out, and now I'm gonna open the box

Acer One Mini

I just got me an acer one mini. I think it is classified as a nettop but it does everything i throw at it so far, but just a bit slower in a lot of cases.

CS3 Suite for page design (not web design)
->photoshop, indesign, Illistrator, Acrobat pro, distiller

World Of Warcraft, ok but slow

email, firefox and all that jazz is ok.

The keyboard is really small. little over than half the size of my 15" laptops keyboard. will take a lot of getting used to. no floppy/cd/dvd drives, makes installing programs a bit harder but iso the cd, put it on a usb stick or memory card and it fits right in.

has two memory card readers. one just like normal and the other is labeled storage expansion. I think that is mainly for the other versions that have the 8gb SSD drives, i have the 160gb version that has a standard SATA notebook interface.

8.9" screen so they say, i havn't measured it but seems about right. Thought it might be a bit too small, but considering that your faces is in arms length its pretty nice.

It runs Windows XP Home, but there are Linux Versions available, i think those are a bit cheaper.

well got wow working and is playable. Turns out that the Intel 945 express video card doesn't like opengl all that well, switched to direct 3d using the -d3d switch and went from 3 to 15fps. Its not blazing but nearly as fast as my other fullsize laptop
