Can you recharge Lithium batteries---I've got some for my camera, and I'm just wondering if I can slip them into my NiCad charger?

Does it say "Do not recharge" on the battery?

Yep, on the other hand:

"Moreover, the life of lithium cells is more limited than that of nickel-based designs, although lithium-ion cells withstand hundreds of charge/recharge cycles."

Yes, and no. If they say DO NOT RECHARGE you can recharge them. You need a special charger though... not sure where you pick one up at. I have seen them in catalogs and TV ad things. You can't recharge them back to their origional state and they won't hold a charge half as long but you can do it if you want.

If they don't have the do not recharge thingy on them then you should be fine. I still wouldn't put them in the microwave though. Or cats for that matter.

I'd grind them to a fine powder and snort them. Then those voices your hearing will go away.

Don't you mean hamsters (says the Maniac Mansion freak).

In reasponse to what you said bob, yep I knew that (one of the few things I do know).

I was going to follow up with something similar to what Shady said, and to add to that, you should also fully decharge the battery b4 recharging to get the maximum life on the second recharge and all future ones (I think I said that right).

awwww... never mind--sulphurous fumes emitted, chance of explosion.... I'll just throw away the lithiums and stick with my nicads..... I'm not sure why anyone would ever buy a battery that's not rechargeable.

Because up until the day they die, they work better and last a pretty long initial charge.

I think I should be saying something about cake eating or something like that, but I can't remember what. <IMG SRC="/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

Ok, look at it like this--non-rechargeable batteries cost 1/3 as much as rechargeable (initially)
they work 1/3 better (while they work)
and they last only 1/300 of the time rechargeable batteries work (approximate--depends on the number of charges you get).

Now you tell me which is better?
