Gerry, write a few bad batch files and this is something you pick-up along the way.

Yeah, never knew what del *.* would do. Had to re-install windows. <IMG SRC="/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif"> My favorite was to make the computer dos boot and have the line
'ctty nul' in the autoexec.bat so that the keyboard was locked out on boot. Also, put the line bootkeys=0 in the msdos.sys. Hehehe... sqrewed myself so many times... good times... good times...

Ahh but diagnosing and fixing a problem is easy, but that's not what their question is asking, in fact the question practically gives you the diagnosis and then asks you to say what error would be caused.

John - <using_bobs _new_xml_method_of_expression> <kidding>Did you even hear what you just said? I think I'll stick to my error free approach of writing batch files</kidding> </using_bobs _new_xml_method_of_expression>

Ah test taking....is it the question or the QUESTION? What they are doing more or less is trying to filter out the people who gleaned the material. The answer is obvious, but not because I wrote batch files its just bad language. In other words they are really asking weather or not you have a working knowledge of the material not just book read. BTW The only cure for this wisdom thing is time....something you and Shady have alot of, use it wisely. I am who you are...just two thousand light years from home.

I've said it b4 and I'll say it again, I don't read books. That's the second time in a week that somebody has used my name in conjunction with the idea of reading books. God dam it, it's just gotta stop! <IMG SRC="/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">

So Gerry, what your say'n is that you can't read? <IMG SRC="/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif">

Books are important, when you don't have some one around that knows what their doing books can be the savior of a system. (i know my good o'l dos manual came in handy back in the day).

I don't know one good tech that hasn't used some sort of refference material, like a book or a reffernce web site to help study for a test. I also do not know a single good tech that has relied on the book either.

Don't just put off books, but then a gain don't become a book certified tech either <IMG SRC="/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

Keywords: "a reffernce web site"

ahh now that's better.

As for me not being able to read, your correct, I can't, infact I have no idea what I just wrote. Although I think I have worked out how to decript these smiley things that you are all so fond of using, sorta like a picture book. <IMG SRC="/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif">

Well, we use
Bills Big Picture Book Of Microsoft Stuff

I comes with crayons and fun puzzles like "Guess The Winsock API" and "How many GUI changes can you find" and my favorite game "Baffle The End User" It is published monthly so the puzzles change often. But if you answer puzzles it rewards you with a "cert" that is good until next months issue. Oh and I love the notes from "Uncle Steve"
He can really keep you on your toes!

Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend and inside a dog it's too dark to read.
