wow those are pretty snazzy for such low prices. I'm kinda jealous because my boring off-white Antec server tower was like $120 when i bought it in Aug, 2000.

I agree Andrew, the prices are surprising.

I like the mods, and I agree the prices made me jump. But I've had cool cases before and in collage, they just make you a target for people to steal your system. I'd personally rather have an aluminum case which I would promptly slap a ton of low-quality duct tape on in such a fashon that it would look like crap. I never want my computer stolen again. :)

Why not a ball of duct tape hollowed out to take your hardware? Cheaper and just as effective at cooling as an aluminum case covered with a "ton" of tape.
I've extrapolated figures for duct tape volume based on a mid-tower and have arrived at the sum .5879/ton to complete the project. A savings of close to a half ton. Not to mention the aluminum case. A little change left over. Cha-ching.

It's is just plastic and metal isn't it? Why should it be expensive?

John, I like the ball of duct tape design. :) But a computer case requires a certain degree of rigidity to prevent parts from falling into each other and shorting out. Have your calculations taken into account the aluminum sphere which must underlie the tape (or plastic, wood.... cardboard... whatever....)?

I'm only guessing at what you're talking about. I got lost somewhere near the first post.

#1 Do you remember those rubber mats, that people placed just inside their door. So that other people would take off their shoes, and wouldn't walk on the rug. Slip one of those suckers underneath your tower, and instant grounding. Don't have to worry about any shorting anything out.

#2 Use your duct tape, in conjunction with your aluminum for stiffness. BTW: if anything falls on anything else, it will just break. You won't blow a fuse, because of #1.

#3 Put your system near an AC or oscillating fan. That way you can cool your apartment and your computer at the same time.

#4 If all else fails, totally ignore #1, #2, and #3.
