REgistry replaced on reboot?

Post by ElianaS » 03/19/08, 12:15 am

I've changed my Shell key in the registry through RegEdit, but everytime I "crash" the system (pull plug, etc), the registry shell key is restored to "explorer.exe".

I'm running Window XP sp1.

Why would my changes be overwritten on reboot (this is a personal machine, no group policies)?

Any information would be appreciated!!

Taking my cue fron John's reply above, possibly the easiest thing to do is create a new restore point immediately after changing your registry to the way you want it. After a crash then, the system will be "restored" to that nearest past point.

He hasn't posted back in a few, so he must have found his own method.

Or used mine (and yours) with either favorable results, or totally disasterous results....
