JSCookMenu (v2.0.3) is a powerful menu script written in JavaScript that can mimic complex menus found in popular GUI Applications.

cool but not that hard to implement.. other than getting the icons and the CSS just right, which can be a huge pain

Have you ever tried the DHE Editor for webpage construction? It's excellent tool for placement of elements.
Freeware ver. 1.9 somewhat limited when compared to the full-blown version, but more than adequate to build a good site. After playing around with it you wonder why you used anything else before.

doesn't look bad, i don't do much front end work though. So i really do text editing... I love Kate from the KDE packages. (so thankful for the recent windows port NoMachine was really starting to piss me off).

but i also recently found Alleycode. Its not a lot of WYSIWYG but it is close. but the previews and stuff are kind crappy but it does have all the php functions along with html and CSS. and is very light weight.

Also I've used WinSyntax a lot in the past..

All else fails i got vi, pico and nano hehe :-)

tried the free version of the editor.

Easy to use, and lightweight.. so not bad.. but it uses a lot of tables.. and i don't like them :-) CSS positioning FTW :-)

What are you designating as "tables"?
My anachronism's aren't updated, so FTW escapes me.

I use div's to simulate the table cells and usually float them where i want unless its always going to be in the same place (rare). Some times i do use tables when in a hurry and know that none of the information is dynamic.

The bad part about tables, atleast in old browsers (ns/ie 4 and 5). the page will not display until the whole table is loaded divs do not wait since they're separate objects. creating blocks of divs really gives the illusion of a faster loading page when in fact it still takes about the same amount of time.

FTW = For the Win. Been play'n a lot of WoW and many of the kiddies use dumb stuff like that... guess its contagious.

Prior to version 4.0, DHE had not the ability to "draw" tables. It always has and still does use divs. I am aware in the Free version the ability to "draw" tables doesn't exist. The 4.0 version draws table divs.
DHE allows you to position all elements "absolute" or "relative"...your choice.
I cannot stress this enough.....If you want to speed up your design and still be compliant this editor is the end-all and be-all. If you don't try it and realize its full potential you are really selling yourself, and it short. I have no connection with this software other than to use it. The paid version has a 30 day trial.

I used the free version for a couple quick formatting things i did, and it used tables. *shrug* it was fine for what i used it for but not for me.

in fact i uninstalled all my editors except WinSyntax and Kate (from kde for windows). (syntax for quick editing, kate for more). I agree with bobs sig, WYSIWTF. give me a light weight text editor with syntax highlighting and a browser and i'll code, alt-tab and ctrl-r

I am going to try eclipse again but last time i used it, it was way to bulky. I like my software lean and mean.

Is Winsyntax providing UTF-8 support, now? Last I looked they weren't.

I highly doubt it. The last official release i could find was from '04 i think.

Kate does however :-)
