freeware id3 tag batch editor??

so, anyone with an ipod shiffle knows that if you are tyring to listen to an album in order (think concept records) the shuffle screws it up because it lists the tracks by track name, from the id3 tag.
Is there freeware to batch edit those damn tags from the filename, ie: another brick in the wall --> 05._another brick in the wall?
I tried that zotram thing, and it worked, but was only free for one day...heheheh.

Any good options for Linux? I use Ubuntu. Having [descriptive filename.mp3] show up as unknown-unknown in Rythm Box is really annoying. Amarok takes care of this, but there's something wrong with it, and it has the tendency to make the keyboard and mouse not respond after a while.
