To DTD or not to DTD

Post by SOD » 01/18/07, 9:22 am

This from netscape about hosting the RSS .91 DTD:

Namespaces suck. In most cases they do not point to a resource that is easily integrated into publishing applications to further user application or validity of an XML document. Namespaces are complex to implement if they are applied with their orginial intent. Instead of format of a document we need to be concerned with what the doc describes and not what comes first second third and where or when it can be applied. Those ideas break a natural pattern about how people think about the organization of information. Further they inhibit the
intent of XML. Everybody has their own concept of organization. Interchange of data using XML first and formost has to understand this. Dclairative social patterns will emerge based on the same tennants of natural language.
