you are capable of processing two or more streams of audio.
Radio does not require visual processing or other senses to be effective.
Other tasks can be processed simultaneously without one affecting the listening experience.

dictionary.com is not quite accurate they describe consecutive procedure.

I agree radio is cool, but then I would do. I am a radio ham.
I can talk and listen while I surf the net, or paint or draw or edit photographs or any number of other things. Even when I am eating I can listen. I can write a novel, poetry or song lyrics at the same time but then it gets asynchronous and I often loose my train of thought. I have been known to listen to music on headphones while carrying on a conversation on ham radio and typing an article for my blog while eating my lunch. And Mrs Reddog says I can't multi-task.
