Torrents suggestion?

Postby Don » 12/20/10, 3:40 am

Now that Limewire have been tied up by the RIAA,
Can anyone suggest what they think is the best torrents application for downloading music?

I'm assuming you're meaning downloading music illegally, which we generally don't encourage that here. http://www.shellcity.net/phpBB/viewtopi ... &forum=5&0

TBH, you probably should have phrased your question differently, but to assist you now would make me an accessory. :P

I used to use ABC was very happy with it. However it doesn't support UDP trackers so i switched to uTorrent for those 1 out of 10 torrents.

I must say I don't use it very often but when i reinstalled StarTrek Online a couple months back it worked great, pretty and worked just as well if not better than ABC.

I think i spent more time looking for a quality malware/spyware free torrent client than i did downloading 8gb of STO lol.

Yeah... "When you assume correctly, the ass is not u, but me"

I've never gotten that "assume = ass u me" thing. All day long, every day of our lives we assume things. We assume we're not going to die today, that lunch will be available at noon, that the plane we're riding won't be hijacked. It's a constant thing. It's just inductive logic -- Drawing a conclusion based on something less than 100% of the evidence. Being good at logic makes you smart!

My favorite is the supposition, that if you buy into a premise at the beginning everything else must be so.

Was going to bring that up if I had to. :-) Although I would have used gravity as my example instead of plane hijackings. Many stupidly assume there is a high chance of the plane being hijacked and the hijacker is going to be that muslim guy sitting next to them.

I had heard it said; "that to assume"
makes an ass out of u & me.
That might maybe better explain it to you Bob.
It's just a play on words :?

Yeah I knew that, the quote is of my own creation. I was just switching it around as a rebuttal. Also Bob has heard the original and that is what he was commenting on, which is why he points out that making assumptions is a necessity if you wish to live in sanity.

Here is The Great James Randi on the topic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qLwTPq-5uI

Really!!!? Hmmm.... is this better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3pQjo1Og_4

He doesn't really make his entire point though, about us becoming catatonic if we don't make assumptions. In the other vid he also pointed out that he didn't see anybody check the sturdieness of their chair before they sat down, people go at a green light and assume everybody else will stop at their red lights and that when walking across the road you don't check the road surface in case in fact it's strawberry jell-o covered with a think layer of macadam.
