A little follow up. I have tried this on a few more machines now, and it has worked on less than half of them, and I can't say why. If it works for your machine, I'm sure it is a really good backup tool. It is a 15.3 mb download, and I guess its main feature is an image restore tool, which I haven't...

Seems like I would have seen this at the daily rotation before, but maybe it was under another category here at sincity. Microsoft Web Developer Accessories has some kind of nice powertoy that lets you, I guess, highlight part of a web page, and then view the source for just that part. Apparently 3r...

Yes, sorry I haven't done it yet. It is high on the list, which is a little long right now. When you have a more contemporary computer, speed is no longer the same issue. However, after using Knoppix a little bit, I am really sweet on the idea of having everything I need on a CD, and as Win 95 is vi...

We're burnin'! We're done burnin'! We're rebootin'! We're not workin'! I think a couple things may have been left out of the instructions, like you have to make the CD bootable yourself. Well, it does say to use Nero if you do it under Win, and I used Adaptec. Well I've always wanted to try that Ner...

Says here it takes about 3 hrs. May not undertake it this evening. http://www.heise.de/ct/english/99/11/206/ Seems like the live CD OS thing is really taking off. You can do it for Windows now too! I think this may have unexpected consequences. Like we won't need hard drives, as ram is going down. I...

I just realized that the bootable CD was only 15.3 mb, also, so I am trying it. Check this out: The following features have also been added by François Dupoux in the bootable CD-ROM. " - kernel-2.4.19 with jfs, xfs, befs and many other options - vim / emacs-clone (zile) editors - midnight commander: m...

OK, Don, it is run from the cd, and I highly recommend it. I ordered the cd from cheapbytes, and it worked great. It ran from the CD on 4 of the 6 old machines I have tried it on immediately. It is a great demonstration of Linux, and no ill effects. If it doesn't work, the worst that can happen is y...
