Currently there are 4 major versions of the web, because of "intuitive parsers", instead of just the one. [...] And really the display problems are the least of our worries, standards on how the page opperates are even worse and much harder to work around. You really can't place the blame for there...

Re: HTML is

Making HTML parsers unforgiving really wouldn't solve much -- you can still write terrible code with PHP or JS, or any other language. I've been making sure my pages validate ever since... well, for just about as long as I can remember, and most of them have still sucked really bad in one way or ano...

I would check the Device Manager, it will probably show as a separate HIG device and you can just disable it. At least, I'm pretty sure that's how I've done it in the past.

Yeah, you made a good choice to leave that offer. The Turion X2 64 isn't a bad chip, but overall Intel has better performance and battery life right now. Might as well get more bang for your buck. If ordering one off the internet is an option for you, then I'd go with that. Toshiba has a pretty clos...

Yeah, Core Duo and Core 2 Duo are different. It's a genius naming scheme, you can't deny that :P

The Wonderful Icon works on XP, dunno about the other one though. Anyway, enjoy your new baby :)

I'm guessing "fuckin' A" means I'm doing the right thing! Bob has always had a way with words. I dunno, I just figured they'd be giving out coupons so you could get Windows Vista. Don't they usually do that sort of thing? What graphics processor does the laptop come with? I thought Viiv w...

Pro gives you the group policy editor, lets you host remote desktop sessions, extra networking options, and stuff like that. I think it includes IIS too so you can host web pages. I'm pretty sure Microsoft has a full list of the differences somewhere. Media Center has all the Pro features plus some ...

Well, here's my list: - The addressbar thing. - Autoscroll often bugs out when it goes over certain things or appears in the wrong place. - Mousewheel scrolling doesn't work as well as IE as far as textboxes and stuff - The updater thing sometimes works, more often doesn't - It takes forever to load...

Hmm, I hadn't really thought about this, but that's probably the case with a large number of users.. The only thing I run is the occasional spyware scan, which usually finds only a couple tracking cookies. The good thing is a lot of these protections are becoming more and more transparent to the use...
